Interesting fitness, beauty and hair competitions was a crowd puller, as with
all demos, free trials & services, specially arranged workshops and seminars
by industry experts, lucky draws, new product launches and stage shows.
At IBE, industry players will continue to benefit from the unrivalled trading
platform of being the ultimate sourcing place for all industry players, big
or small. No doubt IBE 2009 which is already in the works will continue to
make newer inroads to further advance, establish and showcase the best that
the beauty industry has to offer.
Mr. Edward Wong.
President of the Day Spa Association, Asian
Chapter delivering a speech during the grand opening of the Exhibition.
(Excerpt taken from the Official IBE
Exhibition Programme Book.)
Message from Edward Wong.
President of the Day Spa Association.
I congratulate Elite Expo Sdn Bhd for the
tremendous efforts made in promotion the business of Beauty and Wellness in
Malaysia.
The extraordinary performance of Elite Expo Sdn
Bhd in conceptualizing and managing the International Beauty Expo has
garnered overwhelming success in the 2007 inaugural event. The splendid
facilities at KLCC and colorful decor have set a high standard in Beauty and
Spa Exhibitions.
I also applaud the energy and commitment of the
International Beauty Expo team in organizing various activities to help
exhibitors develop more business while ensuring visitors of a wonderful time.
I am pleased to note that IBE 2008 promise to be "The Ultimate Heath & Beauty
Trading Platform" offering more products, competitions, educations,
recreation and other activities for participants of the Beauty and Spa trade.
The Spa industry in Malaysia is coming of age.
The surge in activities from different quarters and active participation by
members of different segments of the industry and governing bodies are
sure indication of the interest and concerns in developing on International
Spa arena in Malaysia. The numbers and standards of Resort Spas, Day Spas,
Hotel Spas and Medical Spas are rising consistently.
In 2008, the Association of Malaysian Spas have
commenced accreditation of its members to recognize those who meet the
stringent requirements of the association. A European grant of half a million
euros was negotiated to upgrade the knowledge and skills of Malaysia Spa
Therapist. Several spa forums, conferences and educational events have been
organized by different bodies throughout this year to promote quality
awareness management excellence of Spa owners operators as well as skills of
Spa Therapist. Some of these activities are supported by the relevant
government bodies. Regulatory guidance is being developed to protect
consumers and promote the business of Malaysian Spa Operators by creating a
professional and creditable image for those who conform.
Global expansion of the Spa industry and
increasing demands for facilities and services of International standards in
the Wellness as well as Tourism sectors have augmented the urgency for
Malaysian investors as well as government agencies to recognize the
seriousness and potential of the Spa and Wellness business. The development
of Malaysia into an International Spa destination requires endorsement from
both local and international consumers looking for specific facilities,
treatments and services to spend their money. Inevitably, the success of each
business and the Spa industry in general depends on the knowledge and
foresight of the business owners and managers to offer attractive products
and services. Exposure to the latest and better equipments, products and
treatment methods can therefore deliver the competitive edge.
I extend my compliments to Elite Expo Sdn Bhd for
providing the platform to facilitate exchange of information, trade and
networking and wish The International Beauty Expo 2008 a roaring success.
Edward Wong
President of The Day Spa
Association, Asian Chapter.
